How to Cancel an Entry with Summary on File

Problem

When you transmit a cancellation on an entry with summary on file you will receive the error code 197 “No cancel with entry summary on file”

Solution

If your entry is already on statement, make sure to remove it from statement by following the first 1-6 steps mentioned in KB-ES Remove/delete (reschedule) an entry from statement.

If your entry is not on statement, but summary is on file, follow these steps:

  1. Open your entry on summary

  2. Set Action to “Delete Entry”

  3. Click on “Save and Close” button

  4. Click on “Transmit” button

  5. Set transmission type to “Delete/Update on Statement (ACE)”

  6. Click on “Transmit”

    1. Look for this message on entry log:

If you receive a “Summary has been deleted” message, your entry can now be cancelled.
