How to add Federal Excise Taxes and Duties

How to add Federal Excise Taxes and Duties

Importers are responsible for all applicable Federal excise taxes and duties. Customs and Border Protection, CBP, collects all applicable taxes and duties on distilled spirits, wines, and beer as defined on the Internal Revenue Code. You are able to manually input these calculations using IMEXNet.

Instructions

Listed below are a few simple steps in order to manually add the Tax/Fees

  1. Enter the US Customs Clearance Module and then enter the HTS section.

  2. On the Home menu strip press the "Manual Tax/Fees" button.

  3. The Tax Fee Formulas window will then open, fill out all the required information, this includes Tax Fee Code, Tax Product Type, Tax Comp Code, Spec Fee Rate, and Ad Valorem Fee Rate. Then press Tab in order to create the line.
  4. Press the Save button and the window will close automatically.
  5. Return to your entry and go to your commodity line under invoices.
  6. Under the Alcohols Tobacco Tax Fees there will be a field labeled as Type of TAX Product, and there you can open up the drop down box and include the newly added Taxes and Duties.

In the situation that your newly added Tax/Fees do not appear, please make sure to save and close your entry in order to allow an update of the fields in that entry. Then open up your entry and add the information.
