How to Fill Hand Carried

Hand-Carried cargo is defined as cargo within the cabin of an aircraft and under the passenger’s
control. Hand carried cargo usually consists of valuable items such as jewelry, coins, precious
stones, or it may consist of samples. Hand-Carried cargo does NOT include merchandise that is
stored in the cargo hold.

As a general rule, commercial cargo transported as baggage will be turned over to the carrier for
storage at its premises and a post-entry will be required at the U.S. Customs and Border
Protection (CBP) cargo office applicable to the arriving Port (Dallas/Fort Worth, Amarillo,
Austin, Lubbock, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, and/or Tulsa). CBP reserves the right to require
post-entry processing of any cargo, regardless of its nature, when deemed necessary.
