HAZMAT Importation Checklist

Based on the checklist shared by The LLUSCBA Inc. / HAZMAT on 09/02/2024 at CBP/Trade Meeting.

1.Ā Ā Ā  Before YOU CROSS ā€“ Prepare

ā˜Ā Ā  Trip data must be entered in TMM prior to arrival.

  1. invoice, bill of lading to include UN number and emergency contact, MSDS.

  2. Submit to DIS.

ā˜Ā Ā  Coordinate with all parties involved that shipping papers (BOL) are in accordance with 49CFR172.200, the driver is a FAST participant if heā€™s a Mexican National, TWIC and/or enhanced drivers license if US citizen or legal permanent residents. MSDS match the shipping papers.

ā˜Ā Ā  Supporting documents to facilitate entry such as EPA Forms, Notice of Arrivals, etc.

2.Ā Ā  AT THE TIME OF ENTRY

ā˜Ā Ā  Driver must have proper entry documents (VISA, FAST or TWIC) and all pertaining shipping papers in accordance with 49CFR.

ā˜Ā Ā  The CBP TMM system must reflect the UN number at time of entry.

ā˜Ā Ā  TMM E-manifest sheet must illustrate in FONT 48 ā€œHAZMATā€ when loaded and ā€œHAZMAT ā€“ EMPTY RESIDUEā€ when empty tankers, highlighted preferably in red.

ā˜Ā Ā  In case of exemptions, such as placarding, labeling, and bracing.Ā  Those exemptions will be presented in writing in accordance with the 49CFR.
